The theory used is Riffaterre’s Semiotic theory. Written ada sources in the form of journals, books, and articles that are relevant to the topic of discussion. Tarjuman Al-Ashwaq contains poems that contain elements of love and longing, which are symbolized by the figure of a girl or woman who sparked controversy in the history of Islamic literary works because his poems were considered to contain the meaning of Ibn Arabi’s Sensual love for women. However, the results of the analysis show that the meaning carried out by the people at that time was wrong, Ibn Arabi only used women as a source of inspiration to represent his love and longing for Allah.

Keywords: Ibn Arabi, Poetry, Tarjuman al-Ashwaq
2023-12-21T11:20:32+07:00Copyright (c) 2023 ISLLAC : Journal of Intensive Studies on Language, Literature, Art, and Culturehttps://journal2.um.ac.id/index.php/jisllac/article/view/41685CASUAL INDONESIAN MONOFTONGIZATION IN TALK SHOWS2024-03-23T12:06:02+07:00Ary Fawziary.fawzi.fs@um.ac.idAgostinho dos Santos Goncalvesdossantosgoncalvesagostinho@gmail.comMonophthongization is a simplification of diphthongs in language activities. This research is library research. The analysis shows that the video project of dubbing in the film is engaging, motivating, and effective in improving language abilities. However, film media using dubbing can be combined with subtitling methods to make English learning more interesting, imaginative, and engaging. It means that both dubbing and subtitling can be used to practice English conversation skills with film. They can be applied to motivate students and even improve pronunciation and vocabulary mastery. Dubbing involves imitating the actors’ voices and acting out dialogue scenes to practice students' pronunciation. Subtitling involves the use of Indonesian language transcription (Indonesian subtitling version) and English transcription (English subtitling version) for helping students to understand the vocabulary meaning in the dialogue. To motivate students’ English speaking/conversation skills with those methods, students can choose their favorite films and actors, choose short film materials and search for subtitles, and practice English speaking in monologs or conversations in pairs. So, students can be interested and motivated, even improving their overall language learning experience. The previous studies also indicate the use of the dubbing/subtitling method in film improves students' motivation and enthusiasm in English speaking/conversation.2023-12-21T11:20:32+07:00Copyright (c) 2023 ISLLAC : Journal of Intensive Studies on Language, Literature, Art, and Culturehttps://journal2.um.ac.id/index.php/jisllac/article/view/44444REVENGE REFLECTED IN AGATHA CHRISTIE’S MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS NOVEL (1934): PSYCHOANALYTIC APPROACH2024-03-23T12:06:02+07:00Aliffia YasmineA320160325@student.ums.ac.id
This research describes Linda Arden's revenge on Agatha Christie's novel entitled Murder on The Orient Express. As a diaspora subject, Hira's arrival to America raises issues related to identity. Hira is seen as a stranger and she also has difficulty to adapt in a new environment with the different culture from Pakistan. Therefore, Bhabha's theory of postcolonialism is applied in this study. This thesis aims to reveal the cultural strategy undertaken by Hira to survive in America by connecting with contextual conditions and to find out the author's views on diaspora issues through the novels she wrote. This thesis is a critical-qualitative study. Primary data are from novels and secondary data are from the internet, books and articles. The results of the analysis of this novel show that as a diaspora subject, Hira experiences a phase of 'unhomeliness' caused by her first arrival to America. Then, to overcome this condition, Hira applies a cultural adjustment known as mimicry. The result of mimicry is that Hira has hybrid identity, as a Pakistani and an American. Amna, as the author of this novel conveyed her idea regarding the issue of diaspora that he experienced in 2008 that diaspora subjects will experience 3 phases namely 'unhomeliness', mimicry, and hybridity when they come to the host country. In conclusion, Bhabha's postcolonial theory is related to the events in American Fever which are the depiction of the author's personal experience as a diaspora subject in the past.2023-12-21T11:20:32+07:00Copyright (c) 2023 ISLLAC : Journal of Intensive Studies on Language, Literature, Art, and Culturehttps://journal2.um.ac.id/index.php/jisllac/article/view/50934UNDERSTANDING THE CHARACTERISTICS OF A SPEECH BASED ON GENDER-BASED CONVERSATIONS2024-03-23T12:06:02+07:00Pidekso Adipideksoadi@yahoo.comconversation is the embodiment of human expression by procedures, methods, and resources associated with the context.
