KONTAK BUDAYA ANTARA ORANG MAKASSAR DENGAN ORANG ABORIGIN YOLNGU SEBAGAI DIPLOMASI DAN PERDAGANGAN TRANSNASIONAL ABAD XVII-XIX M
Abstract
Artikel ini akan menyelidiki hubungan antara dua etnis yang berbeda telah membentuk perdagangan transnasional dan diplomasi awal oleh pelaut Makassar ke Yolngu sebelum kedatangan orang Eropa ke Australia. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode sejarah. Orang Makassar dikenal pelaut yang mengunjungi pantai utara Australia untuk mengumpulkan teripang yang kemudian dijual sebagai obat dan makanan ke Cina. Kedatangan mereka menyediakan kontak budaya untuk orang Australia Utara dalam budaya, ekonomi, dan sosial. Para pelaut Makassar menamai pantai itu dengan nama Marege dan menamai benua itu yang kemudian menjadi negara Australia dengan nama Osse Tara Lia.
The paper will investigate relationship between two different ethnics has established an early transnational trade and diplomacy by Makassar sailors to Yolngu before the arrival of Europeans to Australia. The research method used is historical method. The Makassarese are known sailors who visited the northern coast of Australia for collect trepang which are then sold as medicine and food to China. Their arrival provides cultural contacts for North Australians in culture, economics, and social. The sailors of Makassar named the beach with the name Marege and named the continent which later became the country of Australia under the name Osse Tara Lia.
