PENERAPAN PEMBELAJARAN KOOPERATIF MODEL JIGSAW UNTUK MENINGKATKAN PEMBELAJARAN READING COMPREHENSION

Abstract


Abstract: The ability of the students in class 9.5 at  SMPN 8 Probolinggo especially in reading comprehension  is under the average of the other classes.They can not reach the 85%- target of passing grade. They only achive 57, 8% from the target. This classroom action research has purpose to know the improvement of learning English reading comprehension of the 9.5 students at SMPN 8 Probolinggo through the application of  Jigsaw model. The design model used in the research is the model of Kemmis and Taggart (1998) with two cycles. Each cycle consists of 4 steps those are planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The result of the research shows that the application of Jigsaw model can improve the achievement of English reading comprehension of  the students. The score of the students’ test in cycle one is 54,29% and is 86,11% in cycle 2. It means that there is improvement 31,82% from cycle 1 to cycle 2.
