Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to analyze and explain the effect of work climate on teacher performance in public junior high schools in Labuhanbatu Utara Regency. The research employed a quantitative approach with correlational survey method to determine the relationship between work climate and teacher performance. The population consisted of 718 public junior high school teachers in Labuhanbatu Utara Regency, with a sample of 88 teachers selected using random sampling technique with Slovin formula and 10% error rate. Data were collected using closed questionnaires based on theoretical indicators for each variable, measured using a five-point Likert scale. Data analysis was conducted through descriptive and inferential statistics, utilizing simple linear regression and Pearson correlation with SPSS version 25. The results showed that work climate has no significant effect on teacher performance, as indicated by a significance value of p = 0.415 (> 0.05). The regression equation Y = 75.33 - 0.13X demonstrates that work climate can only explain 0.77% of the variation in teacher performance, while 99.23% is explained by other factors outside the research model. The study concludes that work climate is not a significant determining factor for teacher performance in public junior high schools in Labuhanbatu Utara Regency, suggesting that other factors such as professional competence, intrinsic motivation, and commitment to the profession may play more dominant roles in determining teacher performance levels.
