Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to evaluate the scientific dynamics of primary school quality from a global perspective through a bibliometric approach. It seeks to map publication trends, author and institutional contributions, country distribution, and thematic structures that shape the intellectual landscape of school quality research. The study employed a bibliometric analysis based on 31 Scopus-indexed publications, which were further visualized using VOSviewer to identify keyword co-occurrence patterns, author collaboration networks, and thematic research clusters. The results indicate that the concept of primary school quality has shifted from a traditional academic-achievement paradigm toward a more holistic, multidimensional, and context-sensitive understanding. Five major thematic domains emerged: academic quality, ecological and social factors, educational policy, psychosocial aspects of students, and digital readiness. The analysis also reveals an epistemological polarization between the Global North and Global South. While developed countries emphasize big-data analytics and structural inequalities, developing countries focus more on school leadership, management capacity, and micro-level policy implementation. The study concludes that primary school quality is shaped by the complex interaction of educational policy, social environments, pedagogical innovation, and leadership capacity. Strategic recommendations include redefining quality indicators to be more inclusive, strengthening instructional leadership, fostering Global North–South research collaboration, and promoting terminological consistency across international studies. Future research is encouraged to adopt mixed-methods designs to develop a more holistic and globally relevant understanding of primary school quality.
