Rancangan Alat Cetakan Souvenir Ikatan Alumni Polman Timah-Babel (IAPT)

Abstract


This research aims to develop a souvenir mold in the form of a keychain featuring the logo of the Polman Timah Bangka Belitung Alumni Association, utilizing a mini injection molding system modeled with CAD software (SolidWorks Student Version 2020). The design emphasizes achieving a mold that is precise, efficient, and feasible for small-scale production. The workflow includes identifying design requirements, defining functions, selecting components, conducting analyses, and determining the best concept based on technical and economic considerations. The entire design process is systematically guided by the VDI 2222 method, starting from task clarification and concept development to embodiment design and detailed product specification. The chosen concept incorporates a Ø20 mm steel frame equipped with a lever mechanism to maintain stable injection pressure. The mold assembly includes a frame, pressing lever, plunger, barrel, spring, and cavity plate (core, runner, and ejector pin), all engineered to work cohesively in producing the intended product geometry. Validation was performed through a motion study simulation using SolidWorks 2020.
