Analisis kemampuan representasi semiotik matematis siswa ekstrovert dan introvert dalam menyelesaikan masalah barisan dan deret

Abstract


Students have different abilities in mathematical semiotic representation when solving mathematical problems, one of which is influenced by personality type. This study is a qualitative descriptive research aimed at analyzing the mathematical semiotic representation abilities of extroverted and introverted students in solving sequence and series problems in everyday life. The research instruments include the Eysenck Personality Inventory (EPI) questionnaire, a mathematical semiotic representation ability test, interview guidelines, and documentation. The research subjects consisted of 4 students from class X-J at MAN 2 Jember, including 2 extroverted students and 2 introverted students. The triangulation used was technical triangulation, with data analysis following the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model, which includes data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research results indicate that extroverted students use iconic and symbolic representations but have not yet demonstrated indexical representations, while introverted students only use symbolic representations and do not demonstrate iconic or indexical representations in solving sequence and series problems.
