Application of Shadowing Technique on German Listening and Speaking Skills SMA Negeri 1 Kepanjen

Abstract


The purpose of this study is to explain the application of the shadowing technique in learning German listening and speaking skills in class XI-7 SMAN 1 Kepanjen. It employs a descriptive qualitative method involving 36 students of class XI-7. Data were collected through observation sheets and questionnaires. Observations described the application process of shadowing techniques based on the researcher-designed lesson plan, while questionnaires determine learners' responses to the learning process. Results indicate that students could follow the learning process using the shadowing technique, though some faced difficulties with short pauses between dialogues. The questionnaire results suggest that shadowing helped students practice listening to German texts and demonstrate dialogues on the theme Kennenlernen (Introduction). In general, the shadowing technique positively contributed to enhancing students' listening and speaking skills in German.
