Suitability of German-Stories.com Podcast According to Rösler Criteria

Abstract


German-Stories.com is an online site that provides various German language learning materials through audio podcasts to practice listening skills (Hören). This study aims to describe the results of an analysis of the German-Stories.com podcast’s alignment with Rösler’s theory, which includes four aspects: 1) listening (Hören), 2) exercises and tasks (Übungen und Aufgaben), 3) technical aspects (Technische Aspekte), and 4) feedback. Main focus of this theory is on the technical aspects. The method used is descriptive qualitative analysis, with the data source being podcast episodes from German-Stories.com. The data collected through document analysis. The results show that German-Stories.com meets most of the four criteria in Rösler’s theory, but the technical aspects of the podcasts are still lacking. However, this podcast can be used as a learning materials for A1 German.
